ABSTRACTION OF COSMIC PROCESSES

Katerina Borodavchenko is an artist born in Karaganda, Kazakhstan, who has lived and worked in St. Petersburg since 1999. She studied art at Karaganda State University and the Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts, graduating from the latter in 2007. She is a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia and has participated in Russian and international exhibitions, biennials, and art fairs.

In the series presented here, the artist approaches cosmic objects and phenomena through the language of abstract painting. Her works explore not the outward appearance of the universe, but the processes underlying it: attraction, expansion, absorption, and the transformation of space. Her abstract compositions become a means of conveying the scale and movement of the cosmos, creating visual images of otherwise invisible processes.

Katerina Borodavchenko’s works are held in private collections in Russia, the United States, Europe, and Asia, as well as in museum collections, including the Dafen Art Museum in Shenzhen and Aslan Chekhoev’s New Museum in St. Petersburg. In her practice, the artist explores humanity’s relationship with the infinity of the universe, inviting viewers to consider personal experience through the vast scales of time and space.
